Chiptuning
Chiptuning
Looks like I'm buying a 2008 Ducato 2.2 JTD (100HP), I believe its a Ford Puma engine.
I'm reading that these engines are generally reliable, but can often have EGR problems. I know disabling the EGR is a controversive subject, but Id rather not be stuck on a mountain in norway with faulty EGR. Considering to disable it.
But about chip tuning, I'm not looking for a racer but the increased torque would be beneficial when going north. Here in the flatlands it doesn't eally matter that much i think,.
But I see so many chip tuning companies, and i read not all chip tuning is good. Could anyone recommend a company for quality tuning?
Thanks

https://www.nkc.nl/problemen-22-tdci-mo ... ?fromsso=1
misschien vergis ik me

Re: Chiptuning
I am from Norway, live in Nieuw-vennep. So Huizen is not super far away.
Sorry it makes you so angry. I understand some Dutch, but not quite fluent yet.de Jonckheer schreef: ↑ma 19 aug 2019, 8:01Wat is dit voor onzin, topics in het Engels?

Re: Chiptuning
Hej Tore, give me a pm when you have decided to buy that van but I also agree that I heard a lot of problems with the 2.2L Ford engines
So think twice before you buy.
About English, I have (had because I sell it at 2/9) a house in Sweden and my Swedish is still bad so every time I need some information from a Swedish forum I do that in English and so far everybody help me perfect so don´t worrie about asking in English.

Re: Chiptuning
Thanks Mobile
yeah that whole debacle is a concern, I've spent spent some hours now researching this. It appears to be the 130 and 140hp engines that have this problem. But still its the same engine, so perhaps tuning may be be a problem .
I will have it checked tomorrow by a garage, so lets see. There isn't many alternatives for sale atm though, going for newer will quickly double the price due to BPM
But I also see the pistons from the newer EU 5 engine is perfectly interchangeable to these engines. Maybe if i end up going for it, I could check how much it would cost to change pistons and injectors. Or at least a min have the injectors tested.
Slightly off topic: Will 100HP/ 250NM be strong enough to take me over mountains in Norway with a medium loaded L2H2? I'm not really a aggressive driver, just don't want to cause a queue up hill

Re: Chiptuning
So ive received some additional advice/info from a Uk forum.
"Not very common on the Citroen/Peugeot/Fiat application as there is a different ECU control of injection. On the Ford Transit application with a different type of fuel system there are problems of over fueling leading to the wash away of oil in the cylinder bore, overheating and piston melt.
It could occur but nobody on this forum had reported this type of problem. You are far more likely to have clutch or gearbox problems.
My last van was sold with 170K miles on the 2.2 Puma, and my old Mondeo with the same engine is at 190Kmiles."
